Art Detectives: How to use Art to Understand the Hearts and Minds of Jews in Bygone Times
What are we looking for when we look at ‘Jewish art’? Are we attempting to ascertain how people dressed or what objects existed in people’s homes in earlier eras? Perhaps on a simple level. But we’re actually attempting something far more challenging: discovering what was in people’s hearts and minds, peering inside the consciousness of those who have gone before us.
